In the “Journey of Art” series, I embark on an unending quest for artistic exploration and self-discovery. Each piece in this collection stands as a testament to my relentless quest for worlds yet unseen and my will to transcend the boundaries of traditional art.

While each artwork carries its own unique meaning, a common thread that runs through the series is my innovative approach to materials. I do not limit myself to conventional paints. Instead, I create my own by grinding stones and boiling plants. I incorporate Sumi, a traditional Japanese ink, with Western paints, bridging the gap between Eastern and Western art traditions.

To bring out various textures in my work, I experiment with Washi, a type of Japanese paper, applying and removing it to discover new expressions. This willingness to experiment and innovate is a defining characteristic of my style as an artist.

As a Japanese American with Russian lineage, I grew up in diverse cultural spheres. Art became my first language, a means to express myself when words failed. This series is a reflection of my journey, a journey marked by a deep passion for art, a fascination with the composition of paints, and a dedication to exploring various materials and color combinations.

In creating the “Journey of Art” series, I am not just making art; I am also exploring myself. Each artwork is a step in my ongoing journey of self-discovery. I aspire to be a pioneer, venturing into worlds that no one has ever witnessed before. I believe that this series will offer viewers a glimpse into my world, my process, and my unwavering commitment to my art.

「創造への探求行」シリーズでは、私自身の絶え間ない芸術への探求と自己発見の旅が描かれています。各作品を通して私は、まだ見ぬ世界への果てしない探求心と、伝統的な芸術との境界を超えようという信念を持って、これから先自らが創造していくであろう世界に向かって旅を始めます。

各作品にはそれぞれ独自の意味が込められていますが、シリーズを通じて共通するテーマは、素材に対する革新的なアプローチです。私は従来の絵具にとらわれず、石を砕いたり植物を煮出したりして自分で絵具を作ります。日本の伝統的な墨を西洋の絵具と組み合わせることで、東洋と西洋の芸術の架け橋を体現していきたいと考えています。

作品にさまざまな質感を出すために、和紙を使って実験を行い、貼ったり剥がしたりして新しい表現を見つけ出します。この実験と革新への意欲が、私の芸術家としてのスタイルの一片を担っています。

日系アメリカ人でロシアの血を引く私は、多様な文化の中で育ちました。言葉がうまく伝わらないとき、芸術が私の最初の言語となりました。このシリーズは、私の旅の反映であり、絵具の構成に対する深い情熱、さまざまな素材や色の組み合わせを探求する献身の証です。

「芸術の旅」シリーズを制作する中で、私は単に芸術作品を創るだけでなく、自分自身をとことん探求してきました。このシリーズは、自己発見の旅の一歩であり、誰も見たことのない世界に踏み込む先駆者でありたいという願いでもあります。私の生み出す世界、進んでいくさま、そして芸術への揺るぎない献身を観る人々に感じていただけることを願っています。
